HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I (usually shortened to HIStory) is the ninth overall studio album and his fifth under Epic Records by American recording artist Michael Jackson. It was released on June 16, 1995 by Epic Records. This is Jackson's first album on his own label, MJJ Productions, and consists of two discs: the first disc (HIStory Begins) is a compilation of some of his greatest hits from 1979 onward, while the second disc (HIStory Continues) is a studio album composed entirely of new material. The majority of the second disc's tracks were written and produced by Jackson, often in conjunction with collaborators.
HIStory was Jackson's return to releasing music following the accusation of child sexual abuse in August 1993. Many of the 15 songs pertain to the accusations and Jackson's mistreatment in the media, specifically the tabloids. The songs' themes include environmental awareness, isolation, greed, suicide and injustice.
HIStory is Jackson's most controversial album. Jackson was accused of using anti-Semitic lyrics in "They Don't Care About Us". Jackson stated that he did not mean any offense and on multiple occasions denied anti-Semitism. The dispute regarding the lyrics ended with Jackson re-recording them. R. Kelly was accused of plagiarizing one of the album's songs, "You Are Not Alone". In 2007 a judge ruled that the song was plagiarized and the song was subsequently banned from radio stations in Belgium.
History is the twelfth studio album by American singer-songwriter Loudon Wainwright III, released on September 21, 1992 on Charisma Records. The album was recorded following the death of Wainwright's father, Loudon Wainwright Jr.. Regarding his father's death and its influence on History, Wainwright stated that:
The album featured deeply personal compositions, with a musical style that ranges from talking blues ("Talking New Bob Dylan") to almost pure country rock ("So Many Songs") and modern folk ("The Picture", "Men").
History is often regarded as a breakthrough in Wainwright's career. Allmusic call the album "his masterpiece", and both Bruce Springsteen and Bob Geldof cited it as their favourite album of the year.
The final track, "A Handful of Dust" is an adaptation of a song written by his father.
"Hitting You" is the fourth song of Wainwright's career dedicated to his daughter Martha Wainwright, and "A Father and a Son" is directed to his son Rufus Wainwright.
In the fields of databases and transaction processing (transaction management), a schedule (or history) of a system is an abstract model to describe execution of transactions running in the system. Often it is a list of operations (actions) ordered by time, performed by a set of transactions that are executed together in the system. If order in time between certain operations is not determined by the system, then a partial order is used. Examples of such operations are requesting a read operation, reading, writing, aborting, committing, requesting lock, locking, etc. Not all transaction operation types should be included in a schedule, and typically only selected operation types (e.g., data access operations) are included, as needed to reason about and describe certain phenomena. Schedules and schedule properties are fundamental concepts in database concurrency control theory.
The following is an example of a schedule:
In this example, the horizontal axis represents the different transactions in the schedule D. The vertical axis represents time order of operations. Schedule D consists of three transactions T1, T2, T3. The schedule describes the actions of the transactions as seen by the DBMS. First T1 Reads and Writes to object X, and then Commits. Then T2 Reads and Writes to object Y and Commits, and finally T3 Reads and Writes to object Z and Commits. This is an example of a serial schedule, i.e., sequential with no overlap in time, because the actions of in all three transactions are sequential, and the transactions are not interleaved in time.
"Shoes" is the debut single by comedian Liam Kyle Sullivan, under his female Kelly character. It was released for digital download sometime in 2006, but it is unknown when. The song has become popular in pop culture, and has been performed live many times. It also made Sullivan an icon in pop culture. Kelly appears in VH1's I Hate My 30's, as well as being in Weezer's video for "Pork and Beans". The song also won the 2008 People's Choice Award for "Best User Generated Video". It is also Kelly's biggest hit to date.
The music video was released along with the song on Liam Kyle Sullivan's official YouTube account. The song became an instant hit on the internet, and has been viewed over 57,000,000 times on Sullivan's YouTube account alone.
The video starts out with Kelly (Sullivan), along with her mother (Pam Cook), father (Sullivan), and twin brother (Sullivan). It is the twins' birthday, and they are about to open their presents. Her brother goes first, and gets a new computer and a car. Kelly's present turns out to be a large, purple stuffed dinosaur with a goofy grin. After arguing with the family for a few moments, Kelly turns to leave. When asked where she's going, she replies "I'm going to get what I want." Her father, obviously knowing what that is, says, "Christ". After this, the video consist of Kelly singing the song while going to various shoe stores with her friends. At four shoe stores, the clerks tells Kelly she has too many shoes, to whom she pushes one of them down and steps on his face. There are also scenes in which she is singing with a microphone. The video shows a party going on outside and scenes of two girls dancing with a ring of fire. At the end, the girl with the ring of fire blows it out.
Shoes is a GUI toolkit based on the Ruby programming language. It was originally developed by why the lucky stiff, and others are carrying on with it after his disappearance. Shoes runs on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux (GTK+), using the underlying technologies of Cairo and Pango.
Shoes' philosophy is one of simplicity. It's designed to make applications as easy as possible. Here's an example Shoes app:
Shoes is not just for standard windowing widgets. It also has basic graphics primitives, letting developers draw lines, circles, and even physics (via Chipmunk).
Current release is version 3.2. Shoes 4 is going to be a major re-write. It'll move to an all-Ruby code base, using the Ruby bindings to the windowing libraries, rather than the C ones.
Shoes is an American power pop band, formed in Zion, Illinois, in 1974 by brothers John and Jeff Murphy, and Gary Klebe and incorporating several different drummers over the years including Skip Meyer, Barry Shumaker, Ric Menck, John Richardson, and Jeff Hunter.
Shoes also formed their own record label, Black Vinyl Records, and owned and operated their own commercial recording studio (Short Order Recorder) from 1983 to 2004. Many artists recorded at the studio and some went on to sign major label recording contracts, including Local H and Material Issue.
The Murphy brothers and Klebe were high school friends and decided to form a band following graduation. At the time none of the members knew how to play an instrument so each member picked an instrument to learn and promised to reunite within one year. Within the first year the three got back together to rehearse and eventually record their first album.
In 1977 Shoes recorded the album Black Vinyl Shoes in Jeff Murphy's living room and pressed 1,000 copies on their own label, Black Vinyl Records. The album was sold at local record stores and by mail order through Bomp! magazine. Shoes then released a single "Tomorrow Night" on Bomp! Records in June 1978. Soon after that Black Vinyl Shoes was licensed to PVC Records which released the album in November 1978. The group signed to Elektra Records in April 1979 and released their first major label album, Present Tense, that September. The album peaked at number 50 on the Billboard 200 and yielded the minor hit single "Too Late" which reached number 75 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Take a look at the shoes styles that brought us to the modern age. While our shoes today may look different, they all have their origins in this 100 year span. Ballet flats, boots, high heels, cut outs, straps, and so much more can track their history back to this time. Rather than rely on museum photographs, we're going to look at my collection of antique shoes and boots which can show us far more about the different decades than meets the eye! The 19th century began with big change in fashion. Shoe lost their heels and began to transition to square toes by the 1820s. But it wouldn't take long for fashion to bring back the heel in the 1850s. As decades went on, the toe shifted from square to round to almond to point and back again. Boots came in as the common day footwear at the beginnin...

Nothing screams femininity more than a bikini, but the swimwear we know today took a somewhat controversial path to get where it is. There were laws and moral codes that dictated what ladies were allowed to wear. That is until women decided to unleash their voices and take a stand.

It really doesn't matter if she suffered all she claims
You know she started somewhere and she found her way to fame
And feeding on the lonely crowd, she finally belongs
A goddess by the microphone she sings her troubled songs
She's a star, no one can tell her anymore
She'll ride as far as the road can go
And what it costs, she oughta know
She said she'd do it, she's a star
They're hangin' on the music as it fills the concert hall
And she's teasin' them with moments when you think she'll give it all
But she's holdin' back the total 'cause that's how she works her spell
Yeah, she likes to leave 'em hungry, yeah she loves to hear 'em yell
She's a star, no one can tell her anymore
She'll ride as far as the road can go
And what it costs, she oughta know
She said she'd do it, she's a star
Baby you're a star
And finally, the wild applause that cleans her soul and saves
She's left with no companions, only enemies and slaves
She's scared again the show was slow, she felt it fall behind
Tomorrow night's already raising riot in her mind
But she's a star no one can tell her anymore
She'll ride as far as the road can go
And what it costs, she oughta know
She said she'd do it
She's a star
She's a star
She's a star
